Generally, re-hydration or drinking more fluid to prevent dehydration is the only necessary treatment for diarrhea. In some cases, certain medicines to stop diarrhea may also be prescribed. But this treatment is not recommended if the cause of the problem is bacterial or having a parasite in the intestine. If the diarrhea is caused by a more serious condition, your doctor may need to perform a series of tests for proper diagnosis and treatment. Once the underlying condition is treated, the problem of diarrhea normally just goes away on its own.
